ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
COUNSELOR
Dr. Sarah
Agnew
Dear Parents and AISL students. Welcome back for the 2009-2010
school year. I am very excited to be back for my 3rd year at AISL,
to hear about your summer experiences and to see how the students
have grown over the summer.
For anyone new to AISL, the Counseling Department is made up of Mr.
Barry Phipps (MS/HS) and myself (ES). I am a clinical psychologist
and whilst I am Australian born and bred, I spent the two years
before moving to Nigeria residing and working in Houston, Texas
(U.S.A.). In the past I have worked with children in a range of
settings including educational and therapeutic settings.
In my role at AISL I am a resource for students, parents and
teachers. This includes, but is not limited to, providing short
term counseling; assisting teachers to devise appropriate
strategies for students experiencing either academic, social,
emotional or behavioral challenges; educating children regarding
appropriate social interaction; consulting with, providing support
to, and educating parents; providing assessments for new admissions
to our school; and coordinating the Elementary Student Support
Team.
Here at AISL we are very aware of the challenges of transitioning
to a new school and new environment for not only our students but
also the whole family. Information regarding transitions can be
found on Mr. Phipps swift site.
I am also happy to chat with parents or students at any time.
Should you want to meet with me please feel free to drop in to my
office at any time. However, to ensure that I am available you can
make an appointment either via email sagnew@aislagos.com or
telephone 017764528.
